About Me
My name is David Dorer. I am a 3rd year law student at Mercer University School of Law. I graduate in May of 2012, and I want to be a litigator.
Before law school I ran my own small business: a recording studio in Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta has a vibrant and growing music scene that attracts some of the best talent in the nation. The recording studio industry is a tough one, specifically in Atlanta. My responsibilities in my business included working very hard to build and market a brand for our business through client satisfaction and quality products and services.
What draws me to litigation is how client-focused the practice is. I have experience in working with clients and developing long-term client relationships from before law school and I have learned so much from my work experience during law school. Over the past two years I have seen how clients rely on the expertise of their attorneys. Further, my mentors at those firms showed me how important critical individual attention to the client is in the practice of law .
I started working at a bankruptcy law firm my 2L year. I was responsible for drafting chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy filings as well as motions and briefs in support of the case. In April of 2011 I started working at a civil litigation law firm in Macon, Georgia. It was a big shift to civil procedure but I picked it up very quickly. Before long I was responsible not only for client interviews and responses to discovery materials, but for drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs in personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, and products liability cases.
Redacted and slightly modified versions of these public documents, which were reviewed by my superiors prior to submission on behalf of a client, are available to view on this website. To see several examples of my work, feel free to look under the “drafts” label. For video content of my mock trial performances, click on the “video label”. Feel free to contact me at any time and thanks for visiting my site.
