Herman Cain, the “Shucky Ducky” 2012 GOP Presidential Primary Candidate, whom once was responsible for lobbying to keep server wages more than $5.00 below the national standard minimum wage, has attacked fast food service industry workers for their demand for higher wages by lauding a new tactic deployed by McDonald’s: an automated fast food cashier.
What’s funny is, McDonald’s is a company that notoriously mistreats its cattle (note: I am by no means an herbivore, but my family farm subscribes to the principles of Joel Salatin of PolyFace Farms that there is an ethical way to raise animals for human consumption). McDonald’s gets the majority of its beef from Central Animal feeding Operations, or CAFOs. And now, in response to a demand for higher wages, McDonald’s would rather treat its customers the way it treats its beef: as a living thing that can be fed by a machine.
Fortunately for me, I will not be fed by a robot, so I’ll stick to local restaurants.
