Given the situation in the Ukraine and Russia, and the recent shooting down of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 by Ukrainian Separatists in the Western portion of the country, many world leaders are addressing how it is that we need to handle this situation before tensions result in a regional or global war.
The President and his administration has called out Russia for their potential responsibility, and has said that Russia has a duty to end the hostilities in the Ukraine.
Secretary of State John Kerry stated that he hopes to find a diplomatic solution to the situation in the region.
2008 Republican Presidential Nominee and Senator John McCain said that Russia will have “hell to pay” if the plane was shot down by their systems or their troops.
Many pundits are calling for the President to do more, I for one think it is unwise to start WWIII without the support of NATO, the UN, or even the countries most immediately affected by a fall-out with Russia. Let’s be honest, war with a super power we’ve been threatening to go to war with since Kennedy isn’t a solution to this situation. In fact, no real solutions have been proffered.
